LONDON BRANCH EVENTS:
THE VTH ANNUAL MEDIATION SEMINAR
2 July 200 6 pm for 6.30 pm

Mediation has developed significantly since the first of these events and is becoming the dispute resolution process of choice in many commercial sectors in the UK, whether driven by the Courts or otherwise. This Seminar will provide insights into the practice of mediation outside England and international perspectives on mediation.
PHILIP NAUGHTON QC will share with us his experience of international mediation and discuss some of the pitfalls to be avoided;
KATHERINE HOPE GURUN, from the perspectives both as a mediator and as a former General Counsel, will discuss mediation in the US and lessons learned for its use in Europe and elsewhere;
GIOVANNI DE BERTI will enlighten us concerning mediation in Italy and elsewhere in Europe with particular reference to civil law jurisdictions;
EWAN MALCOLM will address the practise of mediation in Scotland
and
JANE ANDREWARTHA will conclude with an explanation of how the mediation services offered in London can touch upon problems in all these jurisdictions, providing the most appropriate and effective form of alternative dispute resolution in each case.
HEW R DUNDAS, Immediate Past President of the CIArb and Vice-Chairman of the London Branch will Chair this event.
