Around 80 members attended London Branch's evening seminar on Expert Evidence: Current Issues on 13th October in the historic former banking hall at Quadrant Chambers. The speakers were Philip Newman and Michael Cohen.

The London Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators likes to think that it is at the cutting edge of progress. Ms Irvinder Bakshi, the Branch's inestimable Hon Secretary, suggested that the Branch hold an evening seminar on international arbitration where all the panel speakers were women and the panel itself was chaired by a woman, and the suggestion was enthusiastically endorsed by the mainly male committee. On 20th January 2009 a well-attended meeting, members of London Branch met at Landmark Chambers, London, to discuss the proposed CMC registration scheme. Stephen Bickford Smith chaired the meeting. Paul Rose, the branch PRO, a chartered surveyor and an experienced mediator, introduced the subject by setting out the main features of the scheme, and drawing attention to the terms of the documents and the address by Sir Henry Brooke. The 41st amendment to the Civil Procedure Rules has come into force from April 2006.
